- Commodity name: Outdoor Network Rack Enclosure
This is a network equipment protection carrier specifically designed for outdoor scenarios. It can accommodate devices such as switches, routers, fiber optic transceivers, and servers. Its main function is to resist complex disturbances such as outdoor rain, dust, high and low temperatures, ultraviolet rays, and salt fog, ensuring the stable operation of outdoor network systems like 5G base stations, broadband access points, and road monitoring transmission for 24 hours. It serves as the "protective core" for outdoor communication and network transmission.

Core Protection Performance: Addressing Multiple Outdoor Challenges
1. Waterproof and Dustproof: Blocking Environmental Intrusion
The basic protection level should reach IP65 (completely dust-proof + resistant to any direction of high-pressure water spraying), and in coastal/moist areas, it can be upgraded to IP66 (resistant to strong water spraying) or IP67 (short-term immersion in 1-meter water for 1 minute). The cabinet door is sealed with EPDM triethylene tetramine sealant strips, the cable entry is equipped with brass waterproof flange heads, and a sloping rain-proof eave is set at the top to prevent water from seeping in.
2. Temperature Control Adaptation: Balancing Equipment Working Temperature
For outdoor temperature differences of -30°C to 60°C, low-power scenarios (installing only switches) use ventilation louvers (with dust screens) for natural cooling; high-power scenarios (installing servers) have built-in axial fans (automatically starting above 40°C) or air conditioning modules; in cold regions, PTC heating membranes (-10°C below) are added to automatically start, maintaining the equipment in the optimal working range of 15°C to 35°C.
3. UV Resistance and Corrosion Resistance: Extending Outdoor Lifespan
The surface of the shell is treated with anti-UV treatment (such as polyester epoxy coating), or anti-UV materials are selected; for ordinary outdoor scenarios, 304 stainless steel (resistant to neutral salt fog for more than 1000 hours) is used; for coastal/chemical areas, 316L stainless steel (resistant to strong salt fog for more than 5000 hours) is used; in inland dry areas, galvanized cold-rolled steel (with double-layer powder coating) can be selected to prevent the cabinet from aging and rusting; the cabinet door is equipped with double locks (mechanical anti-theft lock + electronic password lock), and the bottom can be fixed with anchor bolts to prevent theft. When installing wireless AP/5G antennas, the cabinet door can be selected as glass fiber material or reserved with an acrylic signal window to avoid signal interference; the internal strong and weak current zones are isolated to reduce electromagnetic interference.
Main Materials: Adapted to Scenarios as Needed
Cold-rolled steel (double-layer powder coating): Low cost, high strength, relying on powder coating for corrosion prevention, suitable for inland dry outdoor (such as rural broadband access points, road monitoring cabinets);
304 stainless steel: Resistant to common outdoor corrosion (rain, dew), easy to clean, suitable for urban outdoor (such as 5G micro base stations in residential areas, commercial street network cabinets);
316L stainless steel: Resistant to salt fog and chemical corrosion, the longest lifespan, suitable for coastal areas, chemical parks (such as port communication cabinets, offshore wind power network cabinets);
Glass fiber (GRP): Light weight, anti-UV, no signal shielding, suitable for scenarios requiring signal penetration (such as outdoor wireless AP cabinets, satellite receiving equipment cabinets).
Structure and Installation: Adapted to Outdoor Scenarios
1. Size Specifications
Following the 19-inch industrial standard, the height is divided by "U" (1U = 44.45mm), common 12U (2-3 switches), 24U (1 server + 4 switches), 42U (large outdoor base station); the depth is selected based on the equipment size, 600mm for ordinary switches or 800-1000mm for servers, with 30% reserved for wiring and heat dissipation space.
2. Installation Method
Floor-mounted: With adjustable feet (adapted to uneven ground), a ventilation net is set at the bottom, suitable for ground installation (such as outside the base station, green belt), and a concrete foundation is required for water-proofing; Wall-mounted type: Mostly 6U-12U, can be hung on walls or poles, suitable for scenarios with limited space (such as broadband cabinets beside street lamps, 5G micro base stations in buildings), with an installation height of ≥ 2.5 meters and resistant to damage;
Post-mounted type: Fixed on poles or communication poles with a semi-circular clamp, suitable for scenarios without ground installation conditions in the suburbs (such as network access points beside roads), needs to withstand a 10-level typhoon.
Typical Application Scenarios
Communication infrastructure: 5G/4G base stations, installation of RRU and fiber optic remote extension modules, requires IP65 + 304 stainless steel;
Broadband access: Outdoor FTTH deployment, installation of OLT and splitters, mostly 12U-24U wall-mounted type, select IP65 + cold-rolled steel spray painting;
Intelligent transportation: Road monitoring and signal transmission, installation of switches and fiber transceivers, requires IP66 + shock-resistant structure;
New energy: Communication for photovoltaic / wind farms, installation of inverter communication modules and sensor gateways, photovoltaic stations select 304 stainless steel floor-mounted type, wind farms need to enhance wind resistance;
Public facilities: Outdoor WiFi coverage in scenic spots / parks, installation of wireless AP and PoE switches, select glass fiber material + IP65.
Summary
When selecting outdoor network cabinets, it is necessary to focus on "protecting against environmental adaptation, matching the size of equipment, and installing in accordance with the site", giving priority to ensuring waterproof, dustproof, temperature control and corrosion resistance compliance, and then choosing additional functions (such as intelligent monitoring, LED lighting lamps) based on operational convenience, to ensure the long-term reliable operation of the outdoor network system and reduce maintenance costs.

FAQ
Frequent tripping
Usually it is overloaded or shorted.Unplug all electrical appliances in the circuit first and then try to push the gate. If it is successful, plug back the appliances one by one to find the source of the fault; if it is still tripped, you need to check the line.
The leakage protector cannot be closed
It shows that there are hidden dangers of leakage.First press the “reset” button on the protector, and then try to close the gate.If it still can't be closed, it means that the circuit or electrical appliances are leaking, and you need to power off and contact an electrician for maintenance.
The distribution box has an abnormal sound or burnt smell
Immediately turn off the main switch and cut off the power!This is a danger signal of virtual connection, overheating or ablation of the line. Be sure to ask a professional electrician for immediate maintenance.
The switch is loose and the identification is unclear
Aging or damage to the switch can easily lead to control failure.The electrician should be contacted to replace the new switch and re-mark the circuit to ensure the safety of electricity consumption and facilitate future management.
